Booked one month in Fuzeta, stayed three
I arrived in the Algarve as a properly grumpy German and left as a somewhat grumpy one.
Early April 2026
Booked one month, stayed three. Clearly something went wrong with my escape plan.
I arrived at Pomar Coliving in Fuzeta suspicious of everything, still recovering from a previous coliving that was, let’s say, character-building. Three months and two extensions later I left with a head full of good memories and at least five people I’d happily let crash on my couch. For a German, that’s basically a marriage proposal.
Annoyingly, it was all of it. Fuzeta is a calm little fishing town full of friendly locals, and despite my best efforts at being unapproachable, not one of them took the hint. Rude, honestly.
The house has its quirks. The coworking area and the kitchen and I have an understanding built on mutual low expectations. But a big garden and a view of the actual sea paper over a remarkable number of cracks.
The people were a rotating cast — instant friendships, polite nods, everything in between. Like reality TV where nobody gets voted off. And the management actually cared about building a community, which in the coliving world is about as rare as a working printer.
So now I’m wondering whether this was a holiday romance with the Algarve or something more serious. Either way, I’m slightly less grumpy than before.
