Denia: a break from coliving, in a coliving

Two weeks at Co-Co Coliving on the Costa Blanca: no programme, sore calves, and more work done than in the months before.

I came for a quiet stopover. I left with three projects online and calves that had filed a formal complaint.

Denia sat on my ride down from Cologne to the Algarve, and so did Co-Co Coliving. I’d known them since getting thrown out in Palma, so I asked for a room for two weeks at short notice. It’s becoming a method.

Funny thing: in 2026 I’ve lived alone for roughly one week. Every time I needed a quiet break, I ended up in another community house.

Co-Co is the coliving you go to when you need a break from colivings. Owner-run, a great house, someone around who knows the area — but no schedule and no “family meetings”. Less community experiment, more flatmates. It took some adjusting. The tap list at La Refinería in Xàbia helped.

Mostly, I worked. Three projects went online, two got updated. I barely saw the town beyond the supermarket and ran the hills until I couldn’t walk properly for three days.

In between: a quick hello with Lazlo in Altea, beer and a sunrise in Alicante with a friend from Burgas, the D*na food festival on the promenade, and burger-contest test runs in the house, where I ate more than my stomach had agreed to. Twice.

Would I go back? Maybe. Strangers from the day-pass coworking sharing the guests’ bathrooms put a dent in it. Given how this year has gone, I’ll find out soon enough.
